Introducing our new owner and chef Román
Born and raised in Spain, our chef and new owner Román has a wealth of experience in Michelin-starred restaurants front of house and is a seasoned wine sommelier and restaurant manager.
His passion for his homeland’s cuisine shines through in every dish—whether it’s the rich, slow-cooked Cocidos de Mama stews or deliciously authentic paella. Every plate is crafted with the authentic ingredients and traditional techniques, delivering bold, honest flavours.
Having lived in Portishead for 10 years with Joanna and their daughter Sofía, Román is dedicated to ensuring the local community can enjoy a fusion of traditional Spanish cuisine and cocktails in the most unique location in town.

Is Venga family-friendly?
Absolutely. We welcome children at Venga and love having families dine with us.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, well-behaved dogs on a lead are always welcome at Venga. We consider them part of the family too.
Is there anything on the menu for vegans and vegetarians?
Absolutely. Our menu includes a great selection of plant-based and vegetarian dishes that are full of flavour. You will not be stuck with just a side salad, we promise.
Is Venga only open in the evenings?
Not anymore. We now serve lunch from Tuesday to Sunday starting at 12:30pm. Lunch runs until 3pm Tuesday to Saturday, and on Sundays, you can enjoy our popular Sunday Paella and Chill from 12:30pm.
Do I have to drink alcohol to enjoy Venga?
Not at all. Venga is all about great food and good company. Whether you prefer wine, a soft drink, or sparkling water, you are always welcome.
What is Sunday Paella and Chill?
It is just what it sounds like. Every Sunday from 12:30pm, we take things easy. Come in, find a table, and we will bring the paella to you. No rush or stress, just a relaxed Sunday as it should be.
Do I need to book a table?
We recommend booking ahead, especially on weekends and Sundays, since we can get busy. We also welcome walk-ins when we have space. To be sure, give us a call or book online.
Do you cater for allergies and dietary requirements?
Yes. Please let us know when you book or arrive, and our team will do their best to help. If you have a serious allergy, we recommend calling ahead so we can prepare for your visit.
Is there outdoor seating?
Yes, you can choose seating at the front of the restaurant or in our Secret Garden.
